Foreign Students Celebrate Indian New Year – Divali

On October 27, students of the medical faculty of PMBSNU, who came to us to study from India, celebrated Diwali, or the festival of lights.

This is an ancient Indian holiday, which in hinduism symbolizes the victory of light over darkness and is a kind of Indian New Year. In general, different regions of India consider the arrival of the New Year as different dates and can celebrate the New Year in winter, spring or autumn. This is due to the diversity of religions and chronology.

Diwali lasts 5 days, and the 3rd is traditionally the most important and is also called Diwali – at this time and celebrate the festival of lights. On Diwali night, every Indian house is lit with the lights of ritual lamps, candles, air lanterns and fireworks; decorate the house with garlands of jasmine flowers to attract the goddess of wealth Lakshmi.

On this holiday, the students dressed in bright and colorful Indian national clothes and prepared national dishes, generously sprinkled with spices, because in India they believe that the sharper the food, the happier it will be next year.

Congratulations to our International students on the holiday! We wish you inspiration, peace and harmony!
