International Relations and Cooperation
Modern social and ecenonomic and political development of Ukraine requires the broadening of international contacts. In order to perfom this activity, their is a great necessity to have professionals in this branch. The Department of International Relations and Foreign Policy prepares specialists in this field.
Graduates of specialty “International Relations, public communications and regional studies” are highly qualified professionals who are ready for academic, research and practical activities. They have a good command of theoretical knowledge, professional skills, also they learn two foreign languages (third language is optional) and can occupy positions of:
- attache;
- diplomatic agent;
- diplomatic courier;
- foreign policy expert assistant;
- political analyst assistant;
- diplomatic agency secretary; foreign policy consultant assistant;
- staff member at foreign polical and economic bodies of state adminisrration;
- expert, assistant or analyst at advertising.
They can work at:
- foreign political and economic bodies of state administration;
- institutions of state power (embassies, consular agencies and other Ministry of Foreign Affairs institutions);
- scientific establishments, centres, research groups which learn and predict political and social processes in foreign countries;
- security department bodies, the Customs;
- foreign companies representative agencies;
- private companies that have international contacts.

The graduates of “International Relations” specialty are the workers of state administration on the issues of foreign policy, security service bodies and also experts, referents, consultants of advertising and tourist agencies, interpreters. The level of education corresponding to international standards is provided by the collaboration of Department of International Relations with international universities. It’s a common practice to invite the top foreign scientists for delivering special courses and provide students’ and lecturers’ internships at foreign universities. We cannot but mention that Black Sea National University has a lasting tradition of cooperation with educational establishments in Poland. The Centre of Polish language and culture at the university is supported by the Polish Embassy in Ukraine. The 3rd and 4th year students have the opportunity to learn foreign languages and major in “Polish People’s Republic in modern international relations”. The famous national polonist, now the professor of Department of International Relations Ye. Sinkevych has the long-term scientific connections with Polish colleagues. Dozens of students of the Department of International Relations participate in international educational programmes annually, namely “Camp America”, “Fullbright”, “Volan-Sea”. This gives the opportunity to explore the world, get acknowledged with Western education system in order to obtain the Master’s degree abroad.
5 students of Department of International Relations received the Europaicum certificates in frames of international educational project of Saarland University, financed by the programme of German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) “Support of Democracy in Ukraine”. The students of the department obtained the Master’s degree in Leiden (Netherlands), Bologna (Italy), Bugraian universities in 2010-2012.
Students participate not only in European and American, but also in Asian exchange programmes. As a result of students’ and lecturers’ interest in oriental studies, the programme of educational exchange with Dezhou university(People’s Republic of China) was launched in 2010. In terms of the collaboration agreement with Petro Mohyla Black Sea National University and Dezhou University (China) the delegation of lecturers and students from China visited the university on 12-19 January, 2011.
The students study the third foreign language optionally: Polish, Japanese, Spanish,Chinese etc.
