The International Scientific Symposium of historians in the framework of the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Olbian Forum – 2017”


On 8 June, at PMBSNU, the international scientific symposium “Rebellions and Revolutions in Ukraine and Poland: historical, political and international aspects (to the 100th anniversary of Ukrainian revolution of 1917-1921)” within the international scientific conference “Olbian Forum-2017” was held.

The main organizers of the event were Head of the Department of History, Doctor in History, Professor Yuriy Kotlyar; Doctor in History, Professor, the Honorary Professor of Jan Dlugosz Academy, Evgen Sinkevych; and a teaching staff of the Department of History.

The symposium was attended by academics, independent researchers, postgraduate students and applicants from Ukraine, Poland, Belarus and Germany. The highlighting of numerous previously undiscussed issues of the Ukrainian statehood and events of the war led by Bohdan Khmelnytsky, uprisings and revolutions of 1917-1921 (their vision and evaluation in Polish studies); discussing the mutual experience of Ukraine and Poland; searching for solutions of Ukraine’s current problems, including the impact of the Revolution of Dignity and hybrid war in the East of our country have become key areas of scientific discourses.

During the plenary session, the following honored guests of University took word: Candidate in History, Associate Professor, director of the archive in Piotrków Trybunalski Tomasz Matuszak; Candidate in History, Associate Professor in Jan Dlugosz Academy (Częstochowa) Marek Nita; and Chief Curator of the Museum of Money of the National Bank of Ukraine Natalia Trifonova. The interesting presentations were presented by the teachers of the Department of History and young researchers, among whom was a guest – the postgraduate student from Berdyansk State Pedagogical University Yurii Bilai.

International Symposium was held in a friendly atmosphere that inspired the fruitful discussions and the further cooperation, providing creative impulse for the future scientific research not only for experienced researchers, but for applicants and students of history who willingly participated in the event, as well.
