On April 26, 1986, the biggest technological disaster happened. 31st anniversary of the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant Tragedy took place near the monument “Mournful angel” in Mykolaiv.
Viktoria Moskalenko, the head of the local government, said the words of gratitude to the tragedy liquidator and stressed that “Chornobyl is our common tragedy of XX century that we need to remember because the feat of those people, who protected Ukraine from an invisible enemy, can’t be overestimated.”
Oleksandr Sienkevych, the mayor of the city, remembered that “People’s memory forgets bitter and sad pages of the past very fast. All the events which happened 31 years ago were the tragedy of all the universe. And those people, who came to save the world from radiation, also had families, children, and plans for the future. During the meeting with Chornobyl disaster liquidators, it was mentioned that fewer and fewer people remember what happened on April 26, 1986. That’s why we need to make different events at educational establishments to remember the future generation about the price which people paid for our lives.”
Students (of 517, 525, 531 groups) and lecturers (L.I. Hryhorieva, professor, the Doctor of Biological Sciences, and the head of the department of Quality, Standardization and Technological Ecological Safe; the Doctor of Biological Sciences, professor Yu.
