Foreign Students of Mohylyanka Celebrated Traditional Indian Holy Holiday


On March 23, 2019, foreign students of the PMBSNU Medical Institute celebrated the traditional Indian holiday of Holi. The celebration was organized jointly with the agent of foreign students Mohan Sundar.

Holi, or the festival of colors – a popular Hindu festival of spring and fertility, and symbolizes the beginning of the New Year on the Indian calendar. It is celebrated in India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and other countries. This holiday is celebrated on the day of the full moon, it is called Phalgun purnima in India.

On the day of Holi it is customary to light large fires, sprinkle each other with colored powders and pour colored water. Holi is dedicated to the god of love Kamadeva.

“Today we gathered students from India to celebrate their national holiday Holi. We hope that we will be able to give students wonderful emotions that would remind them of their homeland, “said Olena Berezovska, Head of the International Department of the PMBSNU.

One of the stages of celebrating Holi for our students from India was an interesting ceremony: the students painted each other with colorful paints, which symbolize the arrival of spring and the beginning of the new year.
