International activities


Petro Mohyla Black Sea National University pays considerable attention to the development and deepening of international relations. Long-term plans for the university’s development are reviewed and adjusted to respond to changes in the system of educational processes in Ukraine, Europe, and global trends.

Petro Mohyla Black Sea National University attracts more and more students from other countries. The number of foreigners applying to our university is constantly increasing. The most popular field of study among foreign students is medicine. Philology, computer science, management and economics are also in demand. The Study Abroad Aide rating is a testament to the favorable conditions for international students. Best Value Rankings for International Students 2023, according to which the University has the best position among Mykolaiv universities and ranks 66th among Ukrainian universities. Every year, according to the UNESCO Top 200 Ukraine international ranking, the university is recognized as the best university in Mykolaiv region.

Students and teachers are active participants in academic exchanges, many of them have received diplomas from the best universities in the USA, Germany, France, Norway, and have completed internships at world-renowned universities. Fifteen scientists and teachers of the Petro Mohyla Black Sea National University were awarded diplomas and medals of the Honorary International Union of Scientists Phi Beta Delta, USA.

The university has a license to train foreign students and trains future specialists from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Canada, China, Colombia, Georgia, Israel, Italy, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Moldova, Moldova, Turkmenistan, Turkey, and Uzbekistan.

Every year, foreign lecturers from around the world give lectures and conduct seminars at our university. Over the years, more than 100 lecturers from Australia, China, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Lithuania, Norway, South Korea, Poland, Russia, Romania, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, the United States, and the United States have visited the institution. We also invite prominent foreign diplomats, scholars, and politicians. Among others, we would like to highlight the visits to the university and meetings with students of the ambassadors extraordinary and plenipotentiary of Bulgaria, Great Britain, Germany, Norway, Poland, France, Switzerland, and the United States.

The university has implemented a significant number of projects supported by the embassies of Germany, Norway, Poland, the USA, France, Switzerland, including summer schools, international scientific conferences, and the creation of European language resource centers, etc.

A separate area of international activity of the Petro Mohyla Black Sea National University is the implementation of international grant projects with the financial support of international foundations, organizations, and embassies from around the world. All projects implemented at the university have long-term prospects and contribute to improving the quality of educational services. In 2023, the three-year DEFEP project “Distance Education for Future: best EU practices in response to the requests of modern higher education seekers and labor market” was launched, where the university is a coordinator and grant holder. In addition, CNU is a co-implementer of the PROMENT project “Promoting professional education and student engagement through comprehensive mentoring and tutoring system at HEIs”, coordinated by Lviv Polytechnic National University.

The program provides for deepening cooperation with leading universities, organizations and foundations in Europe and the world.

The University maintains ongoing relations with such international organizations and institutions as:

– Fulbright Program, IREX, Bill Clinton Global University Initiative; Open Society Institute, Peace Corps, ACCELS, ALDEC, IREX, Phi Beta Delta International Honorary Society of Scholars, American Council on Education (ACE), Civic Educational Project CEP, Talloire Network (USA);

– British Council (UK);

– Goethe Institute, DAAD, Siemens, Konrad Adenauer Stiftung, Bosch Foundation, Europaicum program (Germany);

– Alliance Française Association, “Français à domicile” program (France);

– Fellowship Program in Poland (Poland);

– Romualdo Del Bianco Foundation (Italy);

– Maritime Studies program, Quota program (Norway);

– Tempus-Tacis program (European Union).

The university is recognized and respected abroad. It has joined the Bologna and Talloire Declarations, and is a full member of the world’s most famous educational organizations – the American Council on Education and the Association of European Universities. It has also applied for membership in the Eurasian Association of Universities:

  • Presentation of the university at the international level and in international organizations;
  • search for partners, preparation and conclusion of cooperation agreements with foreign universities and organization of work with them;
  • work with embassies and consulates of different countries in Ukraine;
  • training of specialists (masters, postgraduate students) for partner countries;
  • participation in the preparation and implementation of international educational and research projects and programs;
  • cooperation with foreign associations, trade unions, and companies;
  • advertising and information activities at the international level;
  • search for funding from international bodies, associations and other organizations;
  • teaching Ukrainian students, postgraduate students, researchers foreign languages and preparing them for foreign business trips;
  • coordinating the participation of various university departments in international symposia, congresses, and conferences.
