The entire system of preparation for entering a university is carried out in several directions – the liquidation of gaps in knowledge, adaptation to the conditions of  university (organizational system, system requirements, lack of control) and preparation for the external independent evaluation. Moreover, one of the components of the preparatory department is a professionally-oriented work, which involves all the departments of the university. “Open Days”, meetings with deans, leading scientists, tours in blocks, laboratories, departments of the university help to choose one of more than 25 specialties.

The preparatory department started working before the establishment of the university. When there were official documents about opening of the Mykolaiv branch of the National university of “Kyiv-Mohyla Academy”, the first task was to decide how to convey information about a new type of university to students, their parents, relatives, and, therefore, all the inhabitants of the city.That’s when there was a necessity to create subdivision, which staff will carry out such ​​work. At first there were courses, where the organizers – Yevheniia Vladyslavivna Trunova and Nataliia Viktorivna Vierina – worked. Later Iryna Anatoliivna Oliinyk took up the torch from Y.V. Trunova. Besides, this subdivision was temporarily headed by Liudmyla Valeriivna Sherstiuk from 2010 to 2012.

Already eight years the workers of the preparatory department organize the carrying out of the external independent evaluation at the Petro Mohyla Black Sea State University. And since 2009 they have been connected to the registration of the participants of this testing and became the leading registration point, recruiting more than one thousand entrants to participate in the external independent evaluation. For twenty years about five thousand people have passedthrough the preparatory department, more than three thousands of them were and are studying at the university.

Pre-university preparation at the Preparatory Department is carried out in the following directionstoday:

• Preparatory courses of advanced studying of subjects of the school program;
• Preparatory courses for admission to Specialist to obtain a Master’s degree;
• Preparatory courses for students who didn’t learn foreign languages;
• Preparing of foreign students for the entrance to the university.

Preparatory courses ofadvancedstudying of subjects of the school program will prepare you to pass theexternal independent evaluation in the following subjects: Ukrainian language, Ukrainian literature, English, Math, History of Ukraine, Geography, Biology, Chemistryand Physics.

The registration for courses starts annually on September 10.
