WELCOME DAY
Every year at the beginning of October Petro Mohyla Black Sea National University opens its doors to future students. High school students of local and regional schools together with parents have an opportunity to get to know more about our University and higher-education teaching personnel.
Traditionally, this event begins with congratulations from the University administration and a concert prepared by Culture and Art Centre. But this year, the Welcome Day has begun with the congratulations from the students of “Sport” Faculty –Hennadii Boiko and Oleh Naumenko, who are Paralympic champions.
During this year Paralympic Games at Rio, Hennadii Boiko, the Master of Sport of Ukraine and the Champion of Paralympic Games in 2012, which were held in London, has set an international record and won two gold medals in backstroke swimming (50 and 100 m). His coach, Mykola Ilin – the teacher of Olympic and Professional Sports department at Petro Mohyla Black Sea National University and Honored Coach of Ukraine – went to Rio with him. Oleh Naumenko – the first-timer of the Olympics, the World Cup Medalist in 2015, the Master of Sport of Ukraine – has won a bronze medal in fencing on wheelchairs.
The sportsmen have addressed the guests of the University with the words of gratitude for the support that they have felt while they were in Rio. They have also wished everyone to choose future profession successfully. But our champions have also noted that success can be gained only with persistent work. When you do your best for your work and never give up, you will become successful. The result of our champions is an excellent example of it.
After the concert prepared by the Culture and Art Centre, Admission Board workers in details have described all the specialties, which are available at the University. According to Iryna Oliinyk, the head of the training department, conditions and rules of admission to the University for the next year are under consideration. But from last year’s experience, it is possible to get future students acquainted with what they should hope for. The main decision today is to choose the profession that you want to gain because that influences the choice of the subjects for Outer Independent Testing.
Senior high school students have had an opportunity to speak to the representatives of all the faculties and institutes – deans, directors, and lecturers. Also, they have spoken to the students who have been sharing their individual experience.
