MYKOLAIV BOOK EXHIBITION OPENING


On April 20, the XV exhibition of “Mykolaiv Book” local publishing houses took place at M.L. Kropyvnytskyi Central library with the support of Mykolaiv Regional Administration and Mykolaiv Local Council.

Taras Kremin, the people’s deputy of Ukraine, Nadia Ivanova, the leader of the permanent committee on culture and education, family and youth, sport in Mykolaiv, and Iryna Bondarenko, the chief of the Cultural Heritage Management on Culture and Cultural Heritage Security Department were invited to the exhibition.

Taras Kremin greeted everyone and noted that the book must not depend on patrons. Nadia Ivanova agreed with such a statement. And at the end of her speech, she wished Mykolaiv authors and books to prosper.

The organizers of the exhibition presented Oleksandr Pronkevych (the director of the Institute of Philology of Petro Mohyla Black Sea National University), Inna Horzhevska (the deputy director of Mykolaiv Regional Puppet Theatre) Dmytro Kremin (Merited Artist of Ukraine and the prizewinner of Shevchenko Award) with the certificate of acknowledgement for fertile longstanding collaboration on book and reading popularization among local citizens of Mykolaiv, for active socio-cultural support of local libraries activity and for the considerable contribution to the organization of yearly local publishing houses exhibition “Mykolaiv Book.”

18 publishing houses were presented at the exhibition and among them was the publication of Petro Mohyla Black Sea National University.

When the exhibition ended everybody had an opportunity to share their opinions over coffee. This day at 15.30 the meeting “Undeclared War Sketches” under the head of “Patriotic Guard” was held. Books which highlight the hostilities at the East of Ukraine and connected with the security of state sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country were introduced to the public. So, reading, books and their authors are worth being popularized.
